Drug Discovery: Natural Products that Expand and Induce Brown Adipose Tissue using innovative Stem Cell Metabolism Assays

Plasticell has developed a proprietary, bead-based combinatorial screening technology (CombiCult®), which is able to produce brown-like human adipocytes. Brown Adipocytes (BAT) provide a unique therapeutic strategy to target metabolic disorders such as obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Phenotypic validation of the BAT screening assay, and subsequent secondary screening and Hit to Lead were enabled using a workflow that combined image-based phenotypic screening with Seahorse XF and MitoXpress® Xtra metabolism assays.

This webinar will discuss how novel plant-derived natural product extracts have been discovered, which either i. shift the phenotype of white adipose (or white fat) to brown, or ii. increase metabolic activity in human brown-like human adipocytes.
